BUT WHAT ARE BENTO CAKES?

In Japan, ‘bento’ means lunchbox. So, these are small cakes of 4” in diameter weighing approx 300 grams, a great choice for 2 people. We even make our bento cakes in 500 grams which have a diameter of 6” and 1 Kg with a diameter of 8”.

But do you know, that even though the word ‘Bento’ originated in Japan, ‘Bento Cakes’ are actually a Korean concept? They’re distinguished with cute, adorable & minimal presentation. The 4” version of bento cakes are usually packed in Clamshell containers, surrounded by our printed parchment paper.

You can either eat it right out of the container or pick the cake up using a parchment sheet, and place it on a plate.

THE STRUCTURE

Bento cakes are usually 2 layers of cakes sandwiched together with icing or ganache with filling, depending on the flavour you choose. These are then crumb coated and finished with whipped buttercream.
